Many dream interpretations scattered in books and the web that we do not know whether or not true. It is better if we see the interpretation of dreams according to the proposition of the Koran and Sunnah.
------------------------------------
The Prophet said:
"When the times start close together (time feels short), almost a dream of a believer is not lying. And a dream of a believer is part of the 76 branches of Nubuwwah. And anything that comes from Nubuwwah will never be a lie."
(Reported by Al-Bukhori: 7017 and Muslim: 22)
--------------------------------------
Actually the dream can happen because of 3 things:
From Abu Hurairahradhiallahu ‘anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alayhi wa sallam said,
الرؤيا ثلاث حديث النفس وتخويف الشيطان وبشرى من الله
"There are three kinds of dreams: whispers of the heart, feared by demons, and good news from God." (Narrated by Bukhari 7017)
The good news from God means that dreams are visible, and we do not feel we are dreaming when we sleep.
The dream that comes from Allah is always good news for a Muslim, be it a good dream or a bad dream. A good dream is a dream that has a good interpretation, and a nightmare is a dream that has a bad interpretation.
This nightmare when God tells us we can be careful so that the nightmare will be good in the end. That is what is meant by the good news from God. As we know that the qodlo can still change and the qodar cannot change. If something that Allah has ordained for us and that hasn't happened yet is called qodlo. And everything that Allah has ordained for us and has happened is called Qodr or Qodar (Indonesian).
So the dream that comes from God sometimes explains what has happened and sometimes shows what will happen. When the dream shows something to what has happened then we can take shelter for the consequences of the dream if it is bad and we can be grateful for the consequences of the dream if it is good. As for if the dream shows something that is going to happen, we can take refuge so it does not happen if it is a nightmare, or we can pray to be kept away from that bad fate and the consequences if it has a bad interpretation.
So whether it's a nightmare or good if it comes from Allah, it will be good news (بشرى) for a Muslim.

Rosulullah Sallallaahu memerintahkan alayhi wa sallam ordered that nightmares were not told to anyone.
As the hadith from Jabir bin Abdillah Rodhiallahu ‘anhu, that there was a Bedouin Arab met the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alayhi wa sallam and asked:
"O Messenger of God, I dreamed my head was beheaded then rolled and then I ran fast chasing him".
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to him,
لاَ تُحَدثِ الناسَ بِتَلَعبِ الشيْطَانِ بِكَ فِى مَنَامِكَ
"Don't tell others the behavior of the devil who is toying with you in dreamland".
In another narration, he guarantees that when someone forgets the dream and asks for protection from Satan, the dream will not have a bad effect on him. He said:
If you have nightmares, you should spit left 3 times, and ask for protection from God from evil evil and from the bad effects of dreams. Then, don't tell the dream to anyone, then the dream will not have a bad impact on him. "
