About PCLL HK Land Law

To be admitted to PCLL in Hong Kong, thereby, being a legal practitioner, students, who study LLB, JD, or any other equivalent courses in a common law jurisdiction other than HK, are required to demonstrate competence in 9 core subjects. Without which, students may demonstrate competence in these 9 Core Subjects by taking the conversion examination. The study notes here provide students one of the best materials to prepare for the examination.

The PCLL Study Notes Series aim to help students to pass the PCLL Conversion Examination in Hong Kong as well as prepare for the PCLL courses.

To pass the Conversion Examination, students are reminded to

(1) Carefully read the question and decide the area that the question is asking;
(2) Read the note of that area;
(3) Structure the answer by selecting the paragraph to be inserted to the answer;
(4) Only paraphrase the paragraphs related to that area and write it down to the answer; and
(5) Apply the law to the fact in question.

Students are reminded that the Conversion Examination Board has repeatedly warned students the risk of plagiarism. Hence, please DO NOT insert the words in this notes word by word to the answer. Case after year 1997 is highly persuasive, but it is no longer a precedent. Positively NEVER write down anything unrelated to the question. Write around 600 words for each question (of 10 marks) and answer all questions in the paper in 180 minutes (there is NO reading time).

The past examination papers and answers are of considerable value to students. Students are suggested to firstly investigate the trend of the examination and focus on the hot topics by reading the Examination Trend before going deep to each topic. At the end of the day, your aim of taking the Examination is to get a pass, but not a distinction.

By following the steps above and reading this study notes, student should be able to pass the Examination by studying for less than 1 month.
