The European Union, in order to scientifically support its Common Fisheries Policy choices, has created a common Community framework for the Collection, Management, and Use of Data in the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector. For this reason, it has issued Regulations and Implementing Decisions for the development of National Data Collection Programs (NDCPs) by the member states, which also entails the need for data collection on recreational fishing.
