The Recupera Caatinga Project is a realization of the Center for Qualification and Support to the Small Farmer of Araripe (Chapada), sponsored by Petrobras through the Petrobras Socioambiental program. The initiative also has a partnership with the NGO Caatinga, the Union of Rural Workers of Cabrobó, the Union of Rural Workers of Santa Maria da Boa Vista, the City of Cabrobó, the City of Santa Maria da Boa Vista and the Federal Institute Santa Maria da Boa Vista Campus ( IF Sertão).
The Recupera Caatinga Project has the mission of recovering and conserving vegetation, by recovering the ethnobotanical and ethnobiological knowledge of quilombola communities in the Semiarid Region, in addition to implementing systems for recovering vegetation combined with resilient production, mitigating desertification and the effects of climate change. . The initiative directly involves 270 quilombola families, including children, adolescents, youth and adults from the communities of Jatobá II, in Cabrobó, and Cupira and Inhanhum, municipality of Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Sertão de Pernambuco.
