An unemployed man from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (current Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) at an intersection near Tokyo Metro Higashi-Ikebukuro Station in Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo
The passenger car that was driving ran away and caused a multiple collision accident.
Two passengers (mother and child) died after ignoring the red light and rushing into the pedestrian crossing at the intersection. Ten people, including the man who was driving the passenger car, were injured.
The man who drove the car ignored the red light twice, and the drive recorder records revealed that there was no evidence of braking.
The man called his son immediately after the accident and explained that “the accelerator did not return and he pulled the person”.
On the other hand, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has found that the air bag was operating normally, as a result of the investigation.
