Commercial Woods of Brazil is a guide for the identification of commercial species, based on general and macroscopic characters. It is based on the Intkey program, with a database prepared by the Forest Products Laboratory-LPF of the Brazilian Forest Service-SFB (DELTA format - Version 1.0).
Below are the ways to access each field found in the Main Menu:
Species list: in alphabetical order, of all timber species registered in the application's database. Its scientific and popular names are included, allowing access to images and detailed information.
Filter the species: This category leads to a sequence of 11 characteristics, which will bring discrimination accompanied by images: 1. Phytogeographic domain [Amazon, Caatinga, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Pampa, Pantanal, Exotic]; 2. Color of the wood [whitish, yellowish, pink, olive, brownish, orange, reddish, grayish, purplish, blackish]; 3. Growth rings [distinct, slightly distinct, indistinct]; 4. Vases [Absent, Visible to the naked eye, Visible with lens (10X), Tracheids]; 5. Vases / grouping [Solitary (+2/3), Solitary / Multiples, Multiple (+2/3), Doesn't have]; 6. Vessels / obstruction (Unobstructed, Obstructed in most, Obstructed in part]; 7. Tyloses and / or substances (Tilos, Whitish Substance, Yellow Substance, Blackened Substance, Oily Substance, Does not have); 8. Axial Parenchyma [No observed, A Naked eye, In 10X Lens]; 9. Apotracheal axial parenchyma [Diffuse, Diffuse in Aggregates, Not observed]; 10. Paratracheal axial parenchyma [Sparse, Vasicentric, Short Linear Aliform, Long Linear Aliform, Losangular Aliform, Confluents Short, Long Confluents (bands), Unilateral, Not observed]; 11. Rays / visibility [To the naked eye, transversely; To the naked eye, tangentially; To the naked eye, transv.
