You give up everything. Then you will get everything. When you get it all, you don't need any of it. Because you understand everything impermanently.
If there is such a thing as Dhamma in this world, there is only one thing to be understood. Only what is impermanent. Therefore, whether there are relics in the academic world, in the spiritual world, in the divine world, in the human world, in the primitive world, in the animal world, in the mother, in the father, in the brother, in the son, in the daughter, in the daughter world, there is only one nature which is impermanent. So the Infinite is the Dhamma itself.
