The beta version of the Ser Giraffe app will help you record your conflicts and achievements. Its structure is based on the principles of Nonviolent Communication by Psychologist Marshall Rosenberg.
The 4 basic components of CNV - Nonviolent Communication involve:
1- Observation (the concrete actions we are observing affect our well-being); 2- Feeling (How we feel about what we are observing);
3- Need (The needs, values, desires that are generating our feelings);
4- Request (the concrete and as specific actions as we ask to enrich our lives).
CNV can help us have a lighter and more wonderful life, it supports us in the process of improving relationships and resolving conflicts. It allows us to listen to the other person without taking things personally; helps to express ourselves clearly in order to build understanding and trust; It helps us move out of common “right / wrong” thinking toward valuing the needs of all individuals, thereby building agreements and using them as a foundation for collaboration. And finally, it helps us see conflict as a source of learning, growth and innovation. Conversations and exchanges based on CNV awareness enrich work environments, communities, groups and our closest relationships.
And why can writing help you?
CNV process-based writing will help you adapt your thinking and you will be better prepared to practice the process in your daily life. In addition, as social psychologist Pennebaker has found, making daily records of emotionally charged episodes makes people see an excellent improvement in their physical and emotional well-being. There may even be a reduction in blood pressure and an improvement in immunity. Sometimes we feel something and cannot describe or understand what is happening in ourselves. When we can face and name our emotions we can better deal with stress, anxiety, so common today, and loss. This enables new perspectives to emerge, which can turn obstacles into opportunities to connect more directly with your deepest values. Self awareness is the beginning of a more rewarding life!
