To provide a free and immersive tour of Lahore Fort, we created a GPS location-based audio tour guide application called SideGuide. It does not require the user to follow a specified route and has augmented reality (AR).
SideGuide gets the GPS location of the user and plays the audio for that spot automatically while allowing the user to roam around freely.
The application also shows maps to the user so that he can see the areas where the tour is implemented.
A list of interesting spots is also displayed that shows short descriptions of interesting places and facts in the area the user is standing in.
Furthermore, the application’s AR feature allows the user to position his/her camera towards particular spots/items and it will be transformed into something that shows its history or architectural details visually. Or the user will be shown a 3D painting of the past upon opening the camera.
