With the NABU app "Vogelwelt" you can get to know and identify all the bird species that regularly occur in Germany. The NABU Vogelwelt is the free app for bird lovers and everyone else who cares about the protection of our nature with its diversity.
The fully functional free basic version of the new NABU bird app replaces the previous NABU bird app, but contains 80 additional bird species and a whole host of new functions. Each species has its own identification table. These are the special wow effect of the app, because they consist of cropped photos that can hardly be distinguished from the best bird drawings, but show much more detail. The panels show the typical plumage of a species, the most important features are marked directly in the panels. Distribution maps for all 308 bird species as well as a search and renewed identification function are already included in the free basic version.
You can use the app to create watch lists and export them for your own use as well as for participation in the NABU campaigns "Hour of the Winter Birds" & "Hour of the Garden Birds". These nationwide reporting campaigns in early January and mid-May are aimed at all nature lovers. With your participation, you help to identify trends in species populations and help initiate necessary protective measures.
The basic version of the app can be expanded through in-app purchases: These include bird calls, 3D birds, egg photos, videos showing the typical behavior of birds in their natural environment. Thanks to the proceeds from these extensions, the app can be offered free of charge with its basic functions. Another part of the proceeds from the in-app purchases flows into the work of NABU for the protection of nature and in particular the native bird life.
