India is a union of states. It is an independent sovereign state with a government of parliamentary system, a socialist democratic republic. This Republic is governed by the Constitution of India which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 and which took place on January 26, 1950. The constitution has provided for the parliamentary form of government, which is structured with some unitary specifications, including federalism. The constitutional chief of the Central Executive is the President. According to Section 79 of the Constitution of India, there is a President of the Council of the Central Parliament and two members who are known as the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and the House of People (Lok Sabha). It has been made in section 74 (1) of the Constitution that a Council of Ministers will be the President to assist and advise the President, whose head will be the Prime Minister, the President will perform his functions according to the advice. Thus, the actual executive power is contained in the Council of Ministers, whose principal is the Prime Minister.
