The Wonseo-dong AR Tour is based on the “Wonseo-dong Project,” which was conducted in 2006 based on the testimony and research of experts from various fields. Ji-seon Shin's'Rereading Wonseo-dong', who participated in the project at the time, was designed to enable non-face-to-face viewing and communication, and is a guide project implemented so that the precious history and culture of the region can be experienced in the present time and space.
The stories of buildings, spaces, objects, and people in Wonseo-dong are summoned as new images through augmented reality technology to meet the audience of 2020. In addition, an audience participation event will be held on November 28, 2020, and the video recordings will be introduced through the online platform of the Arts Council Korea. Wonseo-dong AR Tour's application'ARTourism' can be run after installing it on a smartphone from the app store. The audience starts from Insa Art Space and follows the GPS to participate in AR experience and local exploration.
Shin Ji-seon's Wonseo-dong AR tour is a time travel project. Using the smartphone in the hand as a guide, a mysterious image tour where the present Wonseo-dong and the past Wonseo-dong overlap and juxtapose. Going back through the tunnel of time leading to the Joseon Dynasty, the Japanese colonial period, and 2006, we encounter colors, sounds, lights, and faces that still remain somewhere in our minds. Korea's first Western painter Ko Hee-dong, independence activist Song Jin-woo, and the playground that disappeared from the urban environment maintenance project will bring back the old towns before us through AR. Walking along the walls of Changdeokgung Palace, we will meet us again long ago, and swim into the stars, space and the future at the astronomical observation facility of the Joseon Dynasty.
