The Asian Gemological Institute and Laboratory Co., Ltd. (AGIL), established in 1983, is the oldest professional gem laboratory in Hong Kong. The Asian Gemological Institute insists that it does not involve jewelry trading, and uses "loyalty, discernment, truth-seeking, and innovation" as its motto, rigorous scholarship, scientific verification, and service to the jewelry industry. The Gemological Institute of Asia is the first in Hong Kong and has been awarded as a professional gemological laboratory (HOKLAS 151) by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s Accreditation Office.
