About Secretus

Secretus is an application that allows the exchange of strongly encrypted messages between friends through the main social networks, applications of exchange of messages, email, or even SMS.

With Secretus, your privacy gets even stronger, allowing you to exchange encrypted SMS, double encryption of WhatsApp and Telegram messages, and send private messages even within a group of social networking friends.

The application operates offline to perform the encryption and decryption functions of texts and does not request special access to any function of your smartphone.

Public keys are generated locally from users' private keys, that is, on the device itself without the need to access external server. This ensures that third parties will not have access to your private information (passwords and private keys). Not even developers have access to such information, nor are they able to retrieve their private information in the event of lost passwords.

No password is stored in the application's local database, only the public keys that can be shared freely. And Secretus also does not store messages that flow through it.

Currently, Secretus uses an asymmetric encryption system that allows the secure exchange of messages, even through unsafe communication channels. The system is known as elliptical curve encryption that uses a set of public and private keys to guarantee such a level of privacy.

The elliptical curve used by Secretus is Secp256k1, which is used by Bitcoin and has guaranteed the safety of digital currency since its inception in 2008.

Secretus is an experimental application of the Cypher - Manaus cryptography team, composed of researchers and students of Electrical Engineering and Computing.

Team:

Carlos Augusto de Moraes Cruz, Dr. Eng. Electrical: coordinator of the team and enthusiast of the algorithms of cryptography;

Anderson Vinícius Corrêa de Oliveira, Dr. Eng. Electrical: researcher, programmer and tests;

Vitor Freitas de Souza, Student of Electrical-Electronics Eng: programmer responsible for the Android interface;

Helena Farias Cavalcante, Student of Electrical-Electronics Eng: scientific initiation;

André Luiz Miranda Brandão, Student of Computing Engineering: tests;

How Secrecy Works:

1 - Login: Verify User and Password registered before releasing access;

2 - Contacts Agenda: Public keys of your contacts;

3 - Text Encryption: Performs the function of encryption and sending text through the desired application;

4 - Text Decryption: Performs the text decryption function received by any of the applications used by the user (Copy and Paste);

PS:

Encryption systems not designed to provide a very high level of privacy in the media, however, even systems considered to be safer can not be considered 100% secure.

Therefore, we hope that fellow hackers can give their collaboration by reporting some positive result in attempting to break encrypted messages without prior knowledge of the user's password.
