The former iron ore mine "Wilhelm" is an attractive destination for the whole family.
Since the opening of the "Tiefer Stollen" visitor mine in 1987, mining in Aalen-Wasseralfingen has experienced a real renaissance.
Over a million visitors have taken the mine train into the mine in recent years. In one of the sandstone halls there is a film that provides information about the history of mining in the Aalen area. Then it goes through routes and tunnels to the testimonies of ancient mining art. An exhibition shows the toughness (the tools) of miners from different eras, from mallets and irons with which the tunnels were laboriously driven by hand to modern compressed air drills.
