Why health teams and not individual doctors?

While family doctors are best placed to undertake the important work of primary care, the interdisciplinary management of a population's health demands knowledge of a wider spectrum of public health, the biopsychosocial framework, family planning, and so on. Effective Primary Health Care is not based solely on medical science and should therefore be provided by well-coordinated groups of health professionals. Such groups are more likely to succeed in caring and a close relationship with the community.

TOMY are staffed by a multidisciplinary team of up to 12 members, consisting of:

• 4 General Doctors or Pathologists

• 1 Paediatrician

• 2 Nurses and 2 Health Visitors

• 1 Social Officer

• 2 Administrators
