About Lectio Divina - On Jest

The application "Lectio Divina - He Is" is a help in reading God's Word so that this Word would transform our thinking and let us make good choices and make good decisions in His light.
The application is an electronic version of Lectio Divina deliberations, prepared from 2011 in a printed form for the parishioners of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wrocław - Strachocina by the members of the community "On Jest" Ruchu-Życie.

The intention of the authors was to create a simple, easily accessible and intuitive (simplicity of use) tool for prayer with God's Word, with an understandable content of considerations bringing the Word of God closer to the everyday life of an ordinary person and related to life situations experienced by the writers. The application is addressed in particular to those who feel the need for prayer and who seek an orderly and uncomplicated method of prayer with the Word of God.

The authors of the reflections - comments - are lay people. Comments, in the intentions of the authors, have a rather auxiliary character. The main purpose is the personal meeting of the reader with the Word of God, which, as Saint. Paul, in itself, is "alive, effective and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, capable of judging the desires and thoughts of the heart" (Heb 4:12). This is done by guiding the reader, step by step, through the various stages of this method
considerations of the Word of God:

1. Reading (lectio),
2. Meditation (meditatio),
3. Prayer (oratio) and standing before God (contemplatio).
4. Operation (actio)

The most important benefit that people using the Lectio Divina method notice is the growing sensitivity to listening to God in everyday life and the mobilization for regular prayer with God's Word.
Other benefits mentioned by users point to the value of this form of considering the Word in the context of combining prayer and life: "prayer is not detachment from life. My life becomes a prayer "," lectio method organizes my life "," I feel that God leads me and advises me how to live in everyday life ".

Only one reading from among the liturgical readings provided by the Church for a given day of the year is chosen for reflection, for, as St. Ignatius, "not the abundance of knowledge, but the inner feeling and tasting of things satisfies and saturates the soul."
The application works offline, text updates are downloaded from the network once a week (on Saturday) for each next week. Additional help for using the application
is an accessible description of the entire Lectio Divina method.
From December 2017, the application is also available on iPhones.
