About MoP-UP
Chairing the 9th Governing Council of the NITI Aayog on July 27, 2024, the Prime Minister of India expressed “We must target Zero Poverty as a priority for a Viksit Bharat By 2047“. Taking note of this extremely significant constitutional mandate, Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) has determined to eliminate extreme poverty within a year. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh made a formal announcement on August 15, 2024, and following up on the matter, GoUP has issued a government order (GO) on October 02, 2024. The GO clearly states its approach to use of technology and intent to enumerate 10-25 ultra-poor families from each of Uttar Pradesh’s 57,695 Gram Panchayats spread in 75 districts.
The designated mobile app namely MOP-UP, to be used for enumerating the ultra-poor families from across the State, had been approved in year 2023 vide a Government order dated May 25, 2023, and 6.23 lakh families were identified. The mobile app has upgraded to accommodate expanded and detailed information that could aid GoUP contemplate various livelihood schemes and custom projects suiting to segments of Hhs identified through the enumeration.
