SF6 (Sulfur Hexafluoride) is widely used in electrical switchgears and GIS(Gas Insulated Switch-gear) equipments due to its high die-electric strength and arc quenching capabilities.
Upto an extent life of these equipments depends on quality of SF6 they are filled with. Periodically quality checking of SF6 is required to ensure appropriate actions to extend life of costly equipment.
