The Uttarakhand Aajeevika App is developed to provide an online platform for the information dissemination of Government Schemes and programmes which can lead to resource mobilization for livelihoods promotion of rural women in the State. The Uttarakhand Aajeevika App has been launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on 18th Jan 2021 . The app will also provide essential information on NRLM, feedback and grievances by SHG women, best practices for livelihoods promotions etc. A fresh proposal is placed for integrating the marketing linkages for SHG products and to support in the long-term recovery of rural economy through SHGs. The Mobile Application is being used by more than 100,000 Self Help Groups and its members in the of Uttarakhand.
Especially under the COVID context the online mode for information dissemination has become essential and vital due to the travel and social distancing measures. Rural women who earlier used to visit the district head quarter offices for simple and small information will get access to all the information on schemes and application process in a very simple language with contact numbers of relevant officials for each scheme handy. The Utility of the app in COVID context ensures its capacity to provide vital information dissemination to Rural Women for livelihoods promotion. The first phase of the application is an Information sharing app for the SHG members in the State of Uttarakhand.
It gives a platform to the rural citizens to get handy information on government schemes and programmes on a mobile application in addition to this it give a comprehensive information for livelihoods promotion, it is expected to reduce the traveling done by the citizens to government offices for petty information on government schemes and programmes which is especially a cause of concern due to COVID situation for both Government and Citizens. In the application, UNDP have been able to develop a bouquet of schemes and programmes in a very a simplest language that a rural person can easily grasp and capture all the essential information for taking the benefit of desired scheme/programme. The app also cover entrepreneurship development content targeted for rural women on understanding the functioning and benefits of National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
COVID has disrupted the livelihoods in Uttarakhand through disrupting the unorganized sector in the state, A huge quantum of migrants returned to the state due to loss of livelihoods. Starting new livelihoods or creating sources of income through multiple livelihoods are the need of the hour for the state. The mobile application has been designed to provide all sorts of Information for government support to the for starting a new livelihood or strengthening an existing livelihood. It will act as a platform for seeking government support for starting a new livelihood activity. The Mobile application solves the issues of physical visit to a government office for getting and sort of information of schemes and programmes which is a cause of concern looking at the COVID restricts. The application will reduce the footfall in the government offices by providing all the necessary information on Government schemes and programmes on the mobile app in a very simplest language.
It is envisaged that the app establish itself as an essential platform for rural farmers and SHG women in the state for requesting support in agriculture and horticulture activities under Government Schemes and Programmes. The app will also develop a comprehensive database of the SHG women and farmers in the state and will facilitate a platform for all of them to connect with each other based on the homogeneity of their livelihoods to improve cross learning and knowledge transfer. It will also provide essential information on taking up of various farm and non-farm livelihoods activities.
