HOX Zodiac is a decade-long collaborative project between artist, Victoria Vesna, and neuroscientist, Siddharth Ramakrishnan, that is based on scientific research on the Hox genes and utilizes the Chinese zodiac as a conceptual framework. Participants are invited to take a seat at the table to EAT or be EATEN – to symbolically offer themselves or food that is good for them to other human animals sharing the meal. The project brings up issues of GMO and food in a very personal way and also points to a growing influence of Chinese culture in the West.
