A sandwich is a type of sandwich of English origin. The sandwich is named after John Montague, 4th Earl of Sandwich. According to one version, the Earl decided to snack during a prolonged game of cribbage, but did not want to get up from the gaming table, so he asked a servant to bring him a piece of cold meat lying between two slices of bread. He liked the idea so much that first the Earl's friends and then other Englishmen began to eat such sandwiches, because sandwiches are really very convenient for quick snacks. Since its birth in 1762, the popularity of the sandwich has only grown, and today they are loved all over the world.
