On top of all the other tiresome things that may be going on in your life at the moment, non-stopping debates with yourself can really drain out your energy.

The more irritating fact is that the more talk this through, the problem seems to get even more unsolvable.

I just get more aggravated. Gradually accrued emotions lead to hypersensitivity even with a minor stimulus

I get hurt easily, and my anger explodes easily. This leads to remorse

Much of what my past counselors advised me were words void of meaning – nothing really hit me.
It was almost as if telling a person with difficulty in concentrating to “Try to concentrate, when you can’t keep your focus.”

This method of directing the source of my uncomfortable feelings to myself was at first somewhat plausible and effective, but eventually exhausted me.

It’s always a system wherein which your adviser, counselor, instructor appears to be right.

“You should have tried harder. It’s simply the result of you not shouting out positive affirmations more. “


They say that I can achieve my goals if I tell myself aloud 100 times a day, whether it be "I will become rich", "I feel good and everything will go well," or even “I love myself.”


As I mentioned earlier, at first you get excited to do as you were told, yet later you find yourself giving up. You fall into this swamp because you think you can manipulate your emotions and thoughts as if you were coding a computer program. You claim that if you try hard enough, you can feel joy without being swayed despite whatever situation that may be thrown at you.

At first I thought I hadn’t put in enough effort, but I was soon convinced that something was going in the wrong direction. It’s only logical that you should do your laundry if you have stains on your clothes, but it felt like I was adding white painting on top of the stains to simply cover it up.

At least in the fields related to emotions and thought, the general narrative style beginning with 'you should' or 'you should not' did not help to solve the discomfort and anxiety within me.

I did not need knowledge. I wanted to grasp a vivid and realistic experience told with plain, unvarnished honesty.
