A design pattern is a common solution to a particular problem when designing a software architecture.
Unlike ready-made functions or libraries, a pattern cannot simply be taken and copied to a program. A pattern is not some specific code, but a general concept for solving a particular problem that will need to be further adjusted to the needs of your program.
Patterns are often confused with algorithms, because both concepts describe typical solutions to some known problems. But if the algorithm is a clear set of actions, then the pattern is a high-level description of the solution, the implementation of which may differ in two different programs.
If we give analogies, then the algorithm is a culinary recipe with clear steps, and the pattern is an engineering drawing on which the solution is drawn, but not specific steps for its implementation.
