About ZAV LÍTOŽNICE

This application presents the results of rescue archaeological research of Lítožnické rybníky in the form of an idealized 3D computer reconstruction of discovered archaeological situations. Through the Map it is possible to get to the place of launching a "virtual" view into the past, which acts as a 360 panoramic image, ie. you can look in all directions with your phone. After reaching the place, click on the relevant link to open the virtual reality in the Points of Interest section.

In connection with the revitalization of the territory of Lítožnické rybníky and the bed of the Říčanský brook under their dam, a gradual rescue archaeological research connected with the course of earthworks took place between 2016 and 2020. The ponds were in a state of disrepair and the side dams built in the 1960s and 1970s were eroded. During their removal and especially during the draining and siltation of ponds, a considerable number of situations of different ages were archaeologically examined. The oldest can be considered the finding of the tomb of the bell-shaped cups culture (2500 - 2200 BC) from the end of the Eneolithic and several slightly younger tombs of the Unetic culture (ca. 2300 - 1700 BC) of the Bronze Age. Objects related to the defunct medieval settlement of Litožnice, which was located mainly north of the old dam of the pond, were also examined in the place. Objects related to the defunct medieval settlement of Litožnice, which was located mainly north of the old dam of the pond, were also examined in the place. However, it was essential to explore part of a large settlement from the early Roman period (Roman period refers to the period of the first four centuries AD in Central and Northern Europe, the early Roman period occupies almost the entire first two centuries). Traces of this settlement were recorded in the years 1968-1975 east and northeast of the village Dubeč on the banks of the Říčanský stream by surface collections in the surrounding fields and small rescue research. Archaeological research at the site of the ponds, however, revealed on a much larger scale other archaeological situations and a large part of the settlement from the early Roman period.
