About AvD Traveller Protect

The application at a glance

1st event card

After activation, an event card is displayed as the start page:

All published messages are displayed as "Points of Incident" (P.O.I.) in a location-specific manner by so-called markers on a world map (marked). In this way, she supports the »users« in making sure they can move safely on unfamiliar terrain. Through event clusters, the "user" also recognizes the specific threat posed by places, cities, regions and countries. By (multiple) clicking on the event clusters, the respective individual events can be zoomed in and forwarded to the respective message.

2. My destinations

My Destinations lists the selected and downloaded country and / or city dossiers (see "Dossiers"). Thus, individual destinations but also tours with any number of destinations are easy to manage.

3. Dossiers

Under the menu item »Dossiers« the user will find an AZ list with security dossiers in about 200 countries and around 350 international cities¹ with regard to the personal safety of mobile people including risk assessments, risk area mapping, traffic / infrastructure, behavioral tips, medical and other Helps in an emergency.

This data and information should help the user to get to know the security situation of the target areas even before departure in order to preventively prepare themselves for potential or acute threats, or passively avoid them or actively fend them off.

Each country and city dossier can be downloaded (by clicking on the country or city name) and then located in the menu "My destinations" (see above). They are thus also available offline.

By clicking on the notification symbol in the menu item »Dossiers«, the current news can be selected for each country, which is then sent to the user as a so-called »push message« immediately after publication.

Clicking on the flag symbol in front of the country name will open the city list and display the cities assigned to the respective country.

4. News

Security-related events (such as terrorist attacks, social unrest, crime, natural or environmental disasters, extreme weather events, travel and strike alerts) that affect or potentially endanger a large number of people are displayed in a list.

Notifications for countries subscribed to »Dossiers« are listed under the »Selection« tab.

Under the »Messages« tab, the entire message list with messages for all countries and cities is displayed.

5. Emergency call

When clicking on the emergency menu, the user first sees the worldwide reachable "AvD Traveler Protect" emergency number with 24/7 contact to the emergency call center in Germany.

Below this is a list of other local emergency numbers, depending on the country in which the user is staying.

In addition to the standard numbers (eg police, fire brigade), this list also includes - if available - German-speaking contact persons (for example on-call services of the German-speaking embassies and / or consulates, tourist police, aid organizations) as well as information on accessibility in the respective country.

The »AvD Traveler Protect« emergency number can also be used without releasing the positioning of the terminal.

Note: The Emergency Call feature requires the user's device location to be located. This position determination uses the locating function integrated by the device manufacturer into the respective terminal. For this, the "application" needs access to the location function of the terminal. The "user" may object to the use of the data by disabling the location feature and corresponding privacy settings of the mobile device.
