About MOVE-ON(KO)

The MOVE-ON(KO) app is part of the MOVE-ON(KO) project funded by the German Cancer Aid as part of the priority program "Model implementation of structures for sports and exercise therapy in cancer patients".

The app can be used by patients, movement guides and movement experts who are undergoing oncological treatment or work at one of the participating project locations and are participating in the new care structure within MOVE-ON(KO). More information about the project and the project locations can be found at www.move-onko.de.

An oncological disease and therapy and the associated side effects represent a high burden for those affected and significantly reduce their quality of life. More than 700 studies demonstrate the potential of sports and exercise therapy as a supportive measure during and after cancer disease/therapy. Regular and individually adapted exercise reduces side effects, increases physical resilience and quality of life and supports therapy tolerability.
Nationwide, however, the supply of specific offers has so far been insufficient. Those affected often do not receive enough information about the benefits and possibilities of exercise as part of their oncological care, are often heavily stressed and insecure due to the diverse side effects of therapy and illness, and are generally not very physically active. Medical professionals describe a variety of barriers that make patient-oriented promotion of physical activity in everyday clinical practice almost impossible. There is a lack of resources and needs-oriented approaches for early, treatment-accompanying information and advice for those affected on exercise and support in the search for suitable and quality-assured exercise therapy offers.

The aim of MOVE-ON(KO) is to get people moving against cancer and to find an individually tailored range of sports and exercise therapy. The MOVE-ON(KO) app is central to the entire process - a digital communication platform for patients, movement guides and movement experts. It facilitates the exchange between specialists and those affected and bundles all information on diagnosis, therapy and side effects digitally in one place.
Supervising specialists in the participating clinic use MOVE-ON(KO) for the first screening and for a short consultation. Patients who take part in MOVE-ON(KO) use the app to fill out all the necessary questionnaires directly from the comfort of their own home. The following consultation and the search for a suitable exercise offer then also takes place with the help of the MOVE-ON(KO) app. And if no suitable exercise program is available, the MOVE-ON(KO) app can be used to train at home with an individual therapy plan.

Patients can find all relevant information about their accompanying movement therapy, their treating physicians can view documents and information and can contact the movement experts at the clinic - all within the MOVE-ON(KO) app.

The telemedicine platform Curafida, on which the MOVE-ON(KO) app is based, is certified as a CE-certified class I medical device according to the Medical Device Directive (MDD).
