What is the story behind the large stones in the permanent exhibition in the Oldenburg State Museum of Nature and Man? In the Geest area, a replica of a burial chamber from the Kleinenkneten megalithic burial complex "Große Steine II" can be seen. In the showcases around the stones you will find original finds from the graves.
Now you can experience the megalithic grave in a completely new way: With "mega!lith 3D" you can delve deeper into the time of the so-called funnel beaker culture in north-west Germany. Learn what lies behind the approximately 5000-year-old tombs. And do it in a playful way: Accompany a fox on a journey through time and collect the components for the production of grave goods, go on a tour of discovery around the megalithic tomb with an archaeologist or read through the many exciting backgrounds bit by bit at your leisure.
When exploring the megalithic tomb, you will be faced with exciting tasks: do you know, for example, which grave goods were placed with the dead? Can you move three rocks that weigh a ton? And can you find all the secrets surrounding the megaliths?
We recommend using the app from the third grade onwards. Primary school children are best used with an adult when using the app. The journey through time with the sly fox is a particularly good place to start. Older children will have fun exploring with Dr. Suna Menntuch have. Of course, all content is also suitable for adults. Everyone can learn something!
"mega!lith 3D" was developed as part of the "dive in. program for digital interactions" of the Federal Cultural Foundation, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM) in the NEUSTART KULTUR program.
Note: The app can only be used in the Geest area of the permanent exhibition of the State Museum of Nature and Man Oldenburg.
