The project "Alienspotter" is a citizen science project initiated by the Anglerverband Niedersachsen e.V. and funded by the Lower Saxony Bingo Environment Foundation, which is primarily aimed at anglers. With the help of the Alienspotter app, anglers can report catches and sightings of non-native fish and crustaceans (so-called aliens) and thus collect valuable data on the distribution of these species in Germany. Have you caught gobies, black bass, sunfish or catfish? Simply upload photos and report the location via the app.
A special focus of the project is on the exploration of the Wolgazander, which has spread very strongly in the last few years, especially in Lower Saxony. Anglers can actively participate in a science project by making their captured Volgazander available for research.
