About Zirkel

The majority of those in need of care want to be cared for at home as long as possible. Although family members feel strongly obliged to contribute to their care, increasing employment and physical distances present enormous challenges. In the future, home care will therefore depend to a large extent on a successful supply mix, ie a combination of informal (family or neighborly) help and professional care. The supply mix includes z. B. also driving services, food on wheels or neighborly help. Although civic engagement and neighborly support can emerge on their own, they usually benefit from professional support, such as: Eg in the context of organized neighborhood assistance. Professional offers are also necessary to complement and stabilize private help.
So far, communication and coordination in help networks is often perceived as stressful. Difficult accessibility by phone, paper economy, deadline problems and lack of transparency about tasks and activities of other actors in the auxiliary network are often named as problem areas. The mobile application "Zirkel" supports the cooperation of all involved actors of an auxiliary network, in which it provides functions for communication and coordination. Professional caregivers, relatives, and civic committed people can use it

- gain an overview of the participants in the aid network and their role
- Share case related information via a pin board
- Voting processes with individual or all actors in the network via
- Design instant messages
- Transfer case-related appointments to your own calendar

The special feature here: The platform can also depict professional support options and structures for organized neighborhood assistance. Thus, e.g. Helpers easily manage multiple networks. If necessary, questions and requests from the network can also be forwarded to a coordination office (or case manager), who will then provide suitable support services.

The application was developed as part of the research project SONIAnetz (funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration Baden-Württemberg, funding period: 2015-2018) and is now included in the research project EIKI (funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration Baden-Württemberg, funding period: 2018-2020 ) and tested in the field test.
