App in the nature North Rhine-Westphalia shows you the protected and protectable areas in North Rhine-Westphalia in your current environment - for this please activate location services / GPS of your device - or in the area of the location defined by the address search.
The following area categories are distinguished:
FFH and VSG - Natura 2000 - European protected areas (Federal Nature Conservation Act §32)
NSG - Nature Reserves (Federal Nature Conservation Act § 23)
GB - legally protected biotopes (Federal Nature Conservation Act § 30)
AL - avenues (Landschaftsgesetz NW §47a)
BK - Protected biotopes
In contrast to the protected areas VSG, FFH, GB and AL the 'worthy biotopes' are not legally protected, but they often represent remaining (over) habitats for rare and endangered animal and plant species. They form the so-called biotope cadastre (BK) and serve as a basis for decision-making by authorities for the designation of nature reserves or other protection and care measures.
In total, the app provides you with information on over 3,600 nature, FFH and bird sanctuaries, over 5,000 avenues and over 60,000 protected or protected habitats of all sizes for rare animal and plant species in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The application was developed on behalf of the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia (LANUV NRW). The data is regularly updated as part of nationwide biotope mapping and made available to the application via the NRW Nature Conservation Database.
