Palliative care - hospice care

The palliative portal has been specially developed for people affected by palliative medicine/nursing and hospice care and their relatives, family and friends, in order to find sufficient support in critical phases of life.

It is important to provide assistance when it comes to finding palliative care physicians, wards or outpatient nursing services or SAPV teams with palliative expertise, as well as hospice associations and inpatient hospices who are able to be at your side competently to take care of you to accompany. You can also find pediatric palliative teams (SAPPV) in the palliative portal.

According to the definitions of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP), palliative medicine is used for the active, holistic treatment of people with a progressive or advanced life-shortening illness. The aim is not to prolong life at any price, but rather – according to Cicely Saunders – to give the days that remain the highest possible quality of life.
