The legend of Jan, the servant of the Kümpchens-Hof, who was spurned by Griet, the maid, and ascended to rider-general during the Thirty Years' War. When she meets again the maid comes to the wistful insight to have taken the servant earlier.
From this followed the meaningful dialogue - Jan: "Griet, who would have gedonn!" - Griet: "Jan, who et had gewossen!"
