About Schatzküste

Bodden landscape of the treasure coast on the phone In the very north-east of Germany, there is a region full of impressive natural treasures: the typical Baltic Sea habitats of the Bodden landscape - from the coastal forest to the cliffs to the salt grasslands - are constantly exposed to wind and water and are therefore subject to constant change. The region of the treasure coast stretches from the Rostock Heath, over Fischland-Darß-Zingst with the surrounding lagoon landscape, to the island of Hiddensee and to West Rügen. Coastal habitats are home to fascinating animal dwellers, such as the elegant cranes. Use the Treasure Coast app to explore three selected destinations within the Treasure Coast area:

- the crane observation platform KRANORAMA at Günzer See
- the barrier-free forest discovery path Rostock Heath
- and the playful coastal dynamics educational trail on Hiddensee.

Use GPS-based overview and detailed maps to see where you are in the field. Just have the board contents of the nature trails read to you and take a look at the short, supplementary animations with facts about habitats, animal and plant species. Listen to the voices of the birds, frogs and bats found here.

In the area of the Treasure Coast, the network partner project "Treasure on the Coast" took place between 2014 and 2020, implemented by nine nature conservation institutions and regional actors. The overall project goal is the preservation of biological diversity, i.e. the conservation of species and habitats in the lagoon landscape. Natural treasures occurring here have been renatured or made known, experienced and used with very different sub-projects. Two examples from the wide range of over 20 measures are environmental education offers for school classes and the revitalization of wetlands. You can find more information about the project partners, the individual projects and their goals in the app. The SchatzküsteApp is aimed at visitors of all ages who are enthusiastic about nature and can be used outdoors, but also from home during the Baltic Sea vacation or a short coastal walk.

Many friends on tours through the lagoon landscape of the Baltic Sea, while discovering the nature of the treasure coast!
