About ISIP Blatt-Scan

ISIP Leaf Scan automatically detects the five major leaf diseases on sugar beet. All you have to do is take a photo of the leaf spots. The app identifies the disease and provides information on possible treatment options. A comparison with harmful images is no longer necessary.
To start the detection, first take a picture of a sugar beet leaf up close. Alternatively, an image from the photo gallery of the smartphone can be selected. The app then examines the image for suspect stains, cuts out the stains and sends them to an internet server. But you can also make a choice yourself, which leaf spot should be analyzed exactly. After a few seconds computing time the server then sends the answer and the detected diseases are displayed. The app can distinguish between Cercospora, beet rust, Ramularia, Phoma, Pseudomonas and nonspecific leaf spots (holes or dirt on the leaf). In addition to the name of the disease, the accuracy of the diagnosis is also displayed by specifying the probability of correctly identifying the disease as a percentage. Each disease is comprehensively explained with information on control thresholds, damage patterns, the factors causing the disease and possible control measures. In addition, additional information can be found on the websites of isip.de and KWS Cultivent.

From version 1.1.0, the selection of cereals winter wheat, winter roe, winter, winter barley and spring barley is also available. It can detect the diseases brown rust, DTR, yellow rust, mildew, net spots, Rhynchosporium, S. tritici and dwarf rust. The selection of the areas to be recognized is done automatically as with the sugar beet. All cereal scans are trial versions.

This application was created as part of a research project. The project is funded by the Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank.
