Outlay is one single app you need to keep track of all your expenditure. Outlay allows you to create different custom categories that can be used to group similar type of spending together. For instance you can assess your daily needs to determine which all categories you need for tracking your spending. Here are some examples:
Let's assume that your main expenses are food, rent for your home, investments, self-care shopping, and transportation (rapido, ola, uber). Therefore you decided to create 5 different categories as this suffice your needs.
Categories you create:
- Food Expense
- Shopping
- Travel costs
- House rent
- Investments
To make your application more personal to you, you may choose a custom icon for each category you made. You will now just need to enter your transaction in the food expense category whenever you purchase a hamburger (screenshot below showing how can you do that).
You can also set a monthly budget cap to aid in effective planning and management of your personal finances. There are numerous excellent articles on financial planning, such as the 50-30-20 rule, which can be used to determine your monthly budget cap (its always optional, you can always plan your finances the way you want).
At the end of month you can check where all you spent the most. Additionally, you can review all of the transactions that fall under one category annually.
