Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) encompasses a series of inflammatory and chronic diseases that require continued monitoring, with a great care and economic impact, which affects the patient and their environment emotionally and psychologically. A very high percentage of cases of IBD is diagnosed in pediatric age, in a vital stage in which the patient is especially vulnerable to the physical and emotional effects of this diagnosis.
The use of new technologies for the best control of chronic diseases offers great possibilities to the patient. In the case of IBD, some initiatives begin to be available in Anglo-Saxon-speaking countries and are aimed at adult patients. However, most of them lack involvement of health professionals and are not based on international consensus guidelines. In our country, today there is no application aimed at pediatric patients to optimize home control, avoid consultations, income, and promote quality of life.
