The Heart of Darkness (Heart of Darkness) is the title of an extensive short story or short novel by Joseph Conrad, originally published by installments in 1899, and in the form of a book in 1902. Set in Africa, The Heart of Darkness is up to a certain point inspired by the six months that Joseph Conrad spent in the Congo colonized and devastated by King Leopold II of Belgium. Today is probably the best known work of Conrad.
