The adventures of Sandokan take place in Southeast Asia (mainly in Borneo, Malaysia and India) in the mid-nineteenth century (novels provide precise dates). Sandokan is a prince of Borneo who has sworn to take revenge on the British, who dispossessed him of his throne and murdered his family. For that reason it is dedicated to piracy, with the nickname of Tiger of Malaysia, for which it counts on the unconditional fidelity of a crew composed of both Malaysians and Dayakos of Borneo.
