GéoMares

The GeoMares application was developed as part of the Regional Action Program for the Mares de Normandie (PRAM Normandie). This programme, run by the Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels de Normandie, aims to halt the process of degradation and disappearance of ponds. It is financed by the Seine Normandy Water Agency (AESN) and the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF), in conjunction with the Normandy Region.

The objectives of PRAM Normandie are as follows:
- develop, lead and support the network of pond stakeholders;
- maintain and restore pond networks;
- acquire, organize and share knowledge about ponds.

Why identify ponds?
In addition to their hydraulic, agricultural, landscape or recreational interest, ponds are real reservoirs of biodiversity in which many species of plants and animals develop, some of which are threatened with extinction.

Fun and accessible to all, the GeoMares application offers, throughout Normandy, the following:
- list the ponds and assess their condition;
- find the ponds which are not yet listed;
- update the description of the ponds already identified;
- keep the history of your observations and consult them at any time.

GéoMares is an essential tool for all those who want to act in favor of the preservation of ponds. Thanks to your valuable observations, communities and environmental professionals will be able to rehabilitate the most degraded ponds, in order to promote aquatic and terrestrial biodiversity.
