eGEO Discover is an educational application for android mobile devices that aims to provide knowledge about the geology, environment and culture of Sitia, as well as map reading, orientation and navigation skills. It was created within the framework of the action "GEO-IN: Geotourism in Island Geoparks" of Greece and Cyprus of the cooperation program INTERREG V-A Greece-Cyprus 2014-2020. The main objectives were the development of Geotourism with high quality standards, the diversification and strengthening of local economies and in general the self-sustaining sustainable development of the intervention areas.
It's a hidden treasure game that only requires the device's GPS to be turned on.
Basic information about the area and its geology is offered, as well as directions to the home menu. Statistics for the progress of the game emerge from the base of the screen.
Starting from Point 0 you will have to discover, one after the other, the 10 points of interest on the map, following the instructions and answering the relevant questions. Your device's GPS will notify you when you approach each point of interest, which changes color to pink. Clicking on the point brings up the questions. You have 3 chances to answer correctly, but the app only considers your first answer. After completing the game you can see your score and other statistics.
To start the game, simply press the “play” button at the base of the map.
