The project "Green Heart of Podravina" is implemented by the Municipality of Pitomača and is financed by the European Union funds from the Cohesion Fund in the financial period 2014-2020. The total value of eligible costs is HRK 299,944.54 and the grant amounts to HRK 254,952.62, which represents 85% of the total eligible costs of the project.
The implementation of the project seeks to address the problem of lack of information for citizens about the way waste is sorted, as well as other options such as reusing items or why it is important to buy more rationally.
The aim of the project is to raise public awareness of the importance of separating waste, why it is necessary to reduce it and what impact it has on the environment. The target group in the project is all residents in the area covered by the project (women, children, men, pensioners, tourists, youth, educational institutions).
The project will carry out 11 project activities (holding workshops, marking dates related to environmental protection, holding competitions at the school in making creative things from pre-collected waste, designing a website and mobile application, etc.) aimed at various age groups with a greater emphasis on children.
