ICT Agriculture Extension Serv

Agriculture is main source of livelihood of major population of Sindh province of Pakistan. Most of the rural community is directly engaged in agricultural activities. Rural community regularlyneed agricultural extension services to improve agricultural practices and get maximum benefit. According to a survey conducted by FAO for agricultural extension during the year 2009 indicated that the ratio of available extension agents to active rural population of Pakistan is 1: 6,881. With this ratio it is not possible for agriculture extension agent to provide advisory service to the farmers through face to face method.In this situation we have established ICT Agricultural Extension Services Center in Agriculture Extension Sindh to provide agriculture extension services through ICT tools.To fill the gap between agriculture extension services provider & farming community to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of advisory services. Under this center different interventions are being carried out and Android Application development is one of them. This agriculture extension services Sindh application is part of those activities.It is first of its kind in Sindh due to its unique nature of services from one platform.
Key features of the application are:
1. Field staff reporting through offline GPS coordinate camera to captures field activities
2. Supervisors of field staff can monitor and evaluate field staff activities
3. Farmers can contact on Farmer Call Center through this application
4. Every farmer can easily contact Field Assistant of the related area through this application
5. Users of the application can download crop production and protection information in the shape of field guide in easy language
6. This application is also providing facility to all to get agricultural statistics information
7. Farmers can call on Sindh Desert Locust Control Helpline through this application etc
