The team chat serves to simplify communication and organizational processes of joint work in working groups, projects, committees and institutions of the University of Marburg as well as for bilateral communication and projects with external cooperation partners.
The team chat is exclusively for all members of the Philipps University of Marburg. The registration takes place with the university account (students/staff account).
External people, e.g. in cooperation projects, can be invited to group rooms. A Matrix ID is required, e.g. via the Matrix infrastructure of your own university or a public Matrix server.
capabilities
Similar to other well-known messengers or chat systems, messages, emojis, images, videos and files can be sent and received quickly, easily and securely. Chatting in group rooms is just as possible as using voice messages, video calls and voting.
The end-to-end encryption guarantees confidentiality between the chat partners. Verify multiple sessions or use on different devices and thus ensure the authenticity of the other party. With the team chat, the University of Marburg offers a legally compliant and data-protected environment without third-party use or AI evaluation.
The system is technically based on the Matrix protocol and the Element app. Both are open source products and are operated entirely within the technical infrastructure of the University of Marburg.
The team chat is hosted on GitHub. Bugs can be reported here: https://github.com/hrz-unimr/element-android
