1.1 This utility stipulates the sequence of experiments to determine the volume of dry volume of materials (soil, reinforced soil, reinforced stone, graded macadam, natural grading ...) in the field by hopper pouring sand as a basis for determining the coefficient of compacting K of foundation and road foundation.
1.2 The compacting coefficient K is determined on the basis of the dry volume determined by this Utility and the largest dry volume of the same material sample determined according to "Soil compacting and macadam process. laboratory ”22 TCN 333-06. Where the experimental material layer contains oversized particles, the determination of compaction factor K will be carried out according to the instructions in Appendix B of Process 22 TCN 333-06.
1.3 This utility applies only to materials with no more than 50% of the grain on the 19,0 mm sieve.
1.4 This utility does not apply in the following cases:
- When the experiment found water flowing into the hole;
- The pit wall is deformed or collapsed during excavation.
1.5 Terms, definitions, symbols in this Utility comply with the provisions of Process 22 TCN 333-06.
2 Experimental content
2.1. At the experimental site, dig a hole into the material layer with the specified diameter and depth. Take all material in the excavation hole, proceed to determine the natural mass and moisture content of the material.
2.2. Using a sand funnel pour a quantity of standard sand with a pre-determined volume of mass into the excavation pit, calculate the volume of the excavation pit.
2.3. From the results of natural volume, moisture content of the material and volume of excavated pits, the actual dry volume of the experimental material will be calculated.
