About A Fragment of Eden

"A Fragment of Eden" is a decentralized exhibition project that deals with visions and scenarios of the city of the future. This leads to the interaction up to the symbiosis of different networks. People, nature, architecture, art and technology connect, grow together and enter into unexpected fusions.
Four inner-city locations in Hanover will be used as exhibition venues. They are played with artistic works, which rotate around the main location at the Kestner Gesellschaft by regularly changing their sand locations. This rotation of the individual works aims to sensitize the local neighborhood and passers-by to the topic of the city of the future. You experience the artistic works at different locations and can network and exchange information using the app.

A map in the app helps you explore the locations and provides information about which artwork is currently where. Each work is also provided with a chat function, through which users can get to know the individual works better. Local group chats are used for networking and exchange on site.

Malte Taffner realized the exhibition project “A Fragment of Eden” for the Kestner Gesellschaft Hannover as part of the joint project “Offene Welten”. For this, Taffner has invited other artists with a local connection. In addition to his works, works of art by the artists Nike Kühn, Lea Schürmann, Christian Holl and Collectif Grapain are represented in the exhibition.

"A Fragment of Eden" is the third sub-project within the framework of "Offene Welten", a research project of the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen, the Kestner Gesellschaft Hannover, IMAGINE THE CITY Hamburg and the Museum Marta Herford. Together with artists, curators and users, the four institutions for contemporary art are developing digital parcours and artistic stagings in urban space that intertwine physical and virtual experiences.
