MEDx is a beta and small-scale solution to an ever-growing issue: patients and caretakers are unable to find trustworthy information regarding the medications that doctors prescribe. Cutting-edge medical data are only available on prestigious journal articles which may be inaccessible or difficult to understand from the general public; as such, MEDx provides users with in-depth, advanced medical knowledge free of charge and as accessible as possible.
In an effort to make this process as simple as possible, MEDx developers have highlighted three physiological systems which are, controversially, the systems most vulnerable to disease. Under each category, three of the most common medications/treatments have been chosen in order to maximize the number of users who can benefit from such knowledge. These medications are listed respectively below:
– Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole
– Pentosan Polysulfate
– Fosfomycin
– Albuterol
– Nitric Oxide
– Heliox
– Statins (Atorvastatin)
– Candesartan
– Eplerenone
Note that, for each medication listed above, the currently accepted mechanism of action and drug interactions of the medication is listed along with its commercial brand names are provided for ease of use.
The data provided is compiled from a series of selected articles from peer-reviewed sources. Sources include but are not limited to the New England Journal of Medicine, Drug Discovery in Japan, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Drugs, Journal of Urology, Archives of Internal Medicine, Hypertension, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Urology, Frontiers in Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Clinical Microbiology Reviews, Annals of Epidemiology, Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, American Heart Journal, and Journal of Bioscience and Applied Research.
