About Ajahn Mun

THE STRUGGLE OF A FOREST BHIKKHU TO REALIZE PERFECT BRIGHTNESS

Ajahn Mun Bhūridatta Thera was a prominent figure in Thai Buddhism in the early 20th century. He is widely respected and revered for his courage and steadfastness in the forest monk practice, as well as his wisdom as a clairvoyant teacher, and his uncompromising training for enlightenment.

He strictly followed the monk's practice of eating only once a day, eating directly from the alms bowl, wearing only robes of discarded cloth, and living under a tree in a forest, mountain, or cemetery.

Ajahn Mun is also very skilled in the ability to communicate with spirits such as brahmas, gods, ghosts, and even read the minds of humans and animals. He often gives Dhamma talks to guests from all over the world for their spiritual advancement.

Ajahn Mun's struggles and teachings were boldly summarized and written down by his famous disciple, Ajahn Mahā Boowa Nānasampanno. The story of this incomparable ascetic is truly inspiring that the ultimate liberation declared by the Buddha more than 25 centuries ago can still be realized in modern times.
