Meteora is a cluster of hundreds of larger or smaller rocks that rise above the city of Kalambaka, near the Koziakas and Hassia Mountains. Also called Meteora are the sacred monasteries which from the 12th century (and more systematically and organized from the 14th century) began to be built on imposing and steep cliffs.
