The long history of the Hereford de Las Anitas dates back to the beginning of the century, and came from the hand of Don José Alfonso, a Spanish immigrant from the Province of León, Spain, who at 16 years of age, in 1902 came to settle in these land. The first bellies were acquired from the Don Alberto Puig cabin, whose breeding used reproducers from England, for the most part, and some of the main cabins in Uruguay. From the beginning, genetic selection implied arduous task and above all great responsibility.
